Can you think of a game where all your favorite Nintendo characters come together to battle it out right before your very eyes? Well, let me introduce you to Super Smash Bros! This high packed fighting style game was ranked both #1 on best Wii U game of 2014 and #3 on best 3DS game of 2014. This highly popular franchise started back in the early 1999s-2000s back when the Nintendo 64 was around. Though being an older game with somewhat poor graphics, unlike today’s standards, it was a highly enjoyable game. It was first known as Super Smash Bros but as the years went on, new Super Smash Bros games came along. During 2001-2007 we had Super Smash Bros. Melee, next Super Smash Bros. Brawl came out during 2008-2013, and finally in 2014 came Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
All your favorite characters are still included in the new Super Smash Bros game including Mario, Link, Kirby, Samus, Pickachu, Fox, Yoshi, Donkey Kong and so many more. As you battle one another on various stages, you can unlock additional playable characters. In the newest version of Super Smash Bros., some old characters join the battlefield including Pacman, Mega Man, and Duck Hunt but that’s not all. Many new characters hop into action such as Robin and Luciana (Fire Emblem franchise), Wii Fit Trainer, Villager (Animal Crossing), and Mii Fighters. With over 51 characters to choose from, you’ll get to explore what each player has to offer.
With the new version of Super Smash Bros., there are a lot more extras to check out. You could play challenges, similar to Super Smash Bros. Brawl, to earn prizes and coins to help unlock more things. Another similar aspect to the game is the figure trophies and songs you can collect while battling. There is also a new feature on the new Smash Bros. game for the Wii U, which enables you to play a “Life” styled game where you move across a board and collect pieces that will help you when battling the other players. In the 3DS version you pick which route you want to go and fight various characters depending on the route chosen. Either way, each is unique and very entertaining in it’s own way.
Are you ever in the situation where you have so many people over but only 2 people can play Smash at a time? Not anymore! The new Super Smash Bros. game allows up to 8 players on the Wii U! Now you and your friends can have a grand old time trying to beat one another. Due to the player increase, the makers of Super Smash Bros. had to develop larger stages so the players wouldn’t get cramped on the smaller stages. If you have both versions of the game, you can even use your 3DS as a game controller. This is just an insight as to how amazing this game really is. If you have the chance, it’s a great game to play. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys fighting games. Don’t knock it until you try it!
