COVID-19 Vaccinations on the Rise

Hannah Werner '23, Staff Writer

The Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine is now available to anyone 12 and older, and the Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines are currently open to anyone 18 and older. The Pfizer vaccine is  95% effective against Covid-19, the Moderna vaccine is 94% effective, and the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is 74% effective. There have been some rare complications with the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, but Moderna and Pfizer are safe and very effective to fight the virus. On the rare occasion someone gets Covid-19 with the vaccine, it will prevent anyone from getting sick to the point of being hospitalized and receiving medical attention. The CDC recommends everyone get the vaccine as soon as they can if they are eligible. The CDC also recently announced people who are fully vaccinated are now allowed inside and outside of public areas without masks. Vaccines are the only way everyone can go back to living a somewhat normal lifestyle without masks, so getting the Covid-19 vaccine should be one of everyone’s priorities.
