Welcome, Li 老师!

Oakland Catholic is excited to welcome Ms. Li, or  Li老師, the new Chinese teacher! Ms. Li’s story began in Wuhan, China, where she was born and raised. She attended college at the City University of Hong Kong before moving to America, where she earned her master’s degree at Carnegie Mellon University. Ms. Li said that her interest in languages and sharing Chinese culture contributed to her decision to be a Chinese teacher. In addition to teaching all of the Chinese courses at Oakland Catholic, she also teaches Elementary Chinese recitation sessions at University of Pittsburgh. Ms. Li says that she really likes the OC community and that her favorite part about the school is the students. She notes that the students are “smart and hard-working” and enthusiastic about Chinese language.

Fun facts to know about Ms. Li: she does not cook well and is not well versed in Kung Fu. She appreciates that all her students remark on her fashion (she has a fantastic taste in clothes). When asked about her clothing, she says that she got some from China and some online. As an unofficial initiation into Oakland Catholic, she tried Judy’s cookies (given to her by her students) and pronounced them delicious. Welcome to OC, Li 老師!
