On Tuesday, May 9, the 2017 Instrumental Music concert was held at Central Catholic High School, including Central’s Jazz Band, String Ensemble, and Concert Band. The Concert Band is combined with Oakland Catholic and includes 16 Oakland Catholic students, who practice every day during 9th period at Central. The band played three songs including “The Walking Frog,” which was originally written for the circus, “Prairie Songs,” and “First Suite in E Flat,” which is a three-part movement and a famous piece used for concert bands. The band finished off their year with this concert, and will now start preparing for the fall by practicing their 2017 halftime show and attending band camp in July. This concert concluded a busy year for the band, who played at Central Catholic football games from September to December, finishing the season by going to Hershey for the State Championship, marching in many parades, and taking a trip to Disney World in February.
