If you ask any sophomore about their new religion teacher, you will hear nothing but praise for Ms. Karczeski. Ms. K, as her students call her, has quickly shot to the top of the favorite teachers list with her energetic and fun teaching style and kind and passionate nature. Ms. K was excited to share more about herself and her opinion of OC. 

Q: How are you liking OC so far? 

A: I love it! I am very blessed to be here.

Q: What scene in a movie always gives you chills no matter what?

A: The scene [from Aliens] when Ellen Ripley comes out in her robot suit and fights the queen alien.

Q: How would you like your students to view you as (fun, strict, patient)?

A: Understanding and approachable

Q: What are your hopes for this school year?

A: I wish to establish relationships with my students and have them be inspired and empowered by God’s love for them.

Q: You looked like you were having a lot of fun during the OC picnic. Did you enjoy it?

A: Oh my gosh, it was so much fun! I’ve never been to anything like that before. It felt like a youth group rally.

Q: How would you describe your teaching style?

A:  Eclectic, yet organized.

Q: What are you most excited about this school year?

A: I am most excited to teach my content.

Q: You spent some time teaching in Central America. What was that like?

A: It was beautiful. It was the perfect intro to teaching because it was service without paychecks.

Q: Which Disney character’s story does your life most resemble?

A: Lilo and Princess Leia

Q: What are two truths and a lie about you?

A: I carried the catechism in my purse in high school. My first DVD that I bought with my own money was Back to the Future. I lived in Pittsburgh my whole life.

Q: What is one thing you heard about OC that you cannot wait to experience?

A: Basketball games. I love basketball games. Everyone’s basketball and volleyball games. And mission trips.

Q: What do you think you (will) like most about OC?

A: The students and their dedication 

Q: What caused you to pick OC?

A: Whenever I asked about Oakland Catholic in Pittsburgh, everyone was happy. They all either knew someone who went there or went there themselves and loved it.
