Mrs. Roach Spotlight!

Meghan Pavlick '21, Co-Assistant Editor

This school year, our religion department got some new faces! Among them is Mrs. Roach, our new junior religion teacher. All juniors have had Mrs. Roach for religion class for several weeks now, but most other students might not know who she is yet. I recently asked her some questions to get to know her better and help the student body to do so as well.

What did you do before you got this teaching job?

Before coming to OC I worked in early childhood education encouraging parent-child attachment, mentored students through Higher Achievement, educated community members on limiting home energy consumption, and served as Coordinator of Youth Ministry for over nine years at a Catholic parish.

What has been your experience teaching at an all-girls school thus far?

My experience teaching at an all-girls school has been: Fantastic! Thank you for the warm welcome!

What do you like to do outside of school?

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and five kids. Together we enjoy visiting extended family, traveling adventures, hiking in nature, community involvement, lemonade stands and spontaneous dance parties with friends.

Have you had a favorite moment from this school year?

So many moments!

What are you looking forward to this school year?

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone at OC a little better every day!

What do you enjoy teaching about religion?

I enjoy exploring the mystery of God with students and teaching the importance of using reason in a well-formed faith. I also love seeing the beauty of students growing in discipleship.
