The OC Cross Country Team

“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” Aristotle’s statement can be applied to many sports, especially Cross Country. To have a winning team, everyone must contribute. The scores of the 3.1mile races are calculated by adding the place values of the top 5 runners on a team, and the team with the lowest score wins.

This season, the OC team members have successfully pushed their numbers to the front, and achieved what is known as pack running, by decreasing the amount of time between the top runners.  Coach George Rudolph aims to have the top five runners finish within a minute of each other.

This weekend the team will be heading to the Carlisle Invitational, and is gearing up for the WPIAL championship in a few weeks. Congratulations to the team for your success so far and good luck in the races to come!
