The famous Pitt versus Penn State rivalry reached a high in anticipation of their football game Saturday, September 8.  The banter on social media was already going strong even before the game, with Twitter and Instagram accounts poking fun at the teams, fans, and students at Pitt and Penn State.  Some people may argue that the hype around the game was greater than the entertainment during the actual event. Over 50,000 people were estimated to attend the game at Heinz Field. The conditions for the game proved to be a bit rough, with a chill and some rain during the entire game, yet true fans stuck it out.  After the first quarter, Pitt only trailed Penn State by one point, yet it soon became evident that Pitt would not be able to make a comeback. Penn State capitalized on their momentum in the second half and brought the heat. The final score was 51-6 Nittany Lions. Panther fans may have left the game discouraged, but you can count on them to show out for their team.  Regardless of the rivalry, I think both sides would have liked to see a closer game, but I guess we will have to wait until next time!
